Whether you’re looking for ideas for your active vocation committee or you’re starting a new ministry at your parish, there are plenty of resources available to assist your ministry! Parish Vocation Committees focus on four areas of vocation promotion:

Diocesan Vocation Committee
The Diocesan Vocations Committee develops and implements a vocations plan to help generate a culture of discernment in the Diocese of Spokane. There are three areas of emphasis:
- Inform: parishes and schools how to foster discernment at the local level by providing training, information, and catechetical resources.
- Inspire: each person to discover God’s call by providing materials, offering resources, and coordinating events such as retreats, conferences, guest speakers, etc.
- Invite: each person to actively discern how God is calling him or her to participate in the mission of the Church.
The Committee meets monthly at Bishop White Seminary, and is composed of the following persons:

Rev. Daniel Barnett
The Diocese of Spokane is blessed with active Serra Clubs. Serra is the global lay apostolate for vocations in the Catholic Church. Their patron is St. Junipero Serra, missionary to the Americas. Serra Clubs work with their Bishops, Dioceses and Religious Vocation Directors to encourage and support vocations to the Priesthood and to the Religious Life.

Knights of Columbus
Among their charitable works, the Knights of Columbus often do wonderful work in vocations ministry. Your local Council is often willing to lend a hand with the Parish Vocation Committee.
Catholic Daughters of the Americas
The mission of the Catholic Daughters is to “…participate in the religious, charitable and educational apostolates of the Church. Catholic Daughters engage in creative and spiritual programs which provide its members with the opportunity to develop their God-given talents in meaningful ways that positively influence the welfare of the Church and all people throughout the world.”
